Daré Bioscience Sponsors HERmedicine Educational Program for Clinicians on Managing Menopause After Breast Cancer
Premier sponsorship of the HERmedicine and OncoMenopause Consortium® program underscores Daré Bioscience's commitment to addressing unmet women’s health needs, including for women affected by breast cancer
The program addresses non-hormonal approaches to women’s sexual health which aligns with Daré Bioscience's innovation strategy and development of proprietary Sildenafil Cream, 3.6%
Daré Bioscience will also present research on Sildenafil Cream, 3.6% in postmenopausal women at The Menopause Society's 2026 Annual Meeting
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Daré Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ: DARE), a purpose-driven health biotech company solely focused on closing the gap in women's health between promising science and real-world solutions, today announced its premier sponsorship of Managing Menopause After Breast Cancer, a continuing medical education (CME) program presented by HERmedicine and the OncoMenopause Consortium®. The program will take place October 20, 2026, in San Diego, California, ahead of The Menopause Society's Annual Meeting. The sponsorship supports clinician education and discussion of treatment approaches for women whose options for managing menopausal symptoms, contraception, and sexual health conditions may be limited by a history of breast cancer.
“For women navigating life after breast cancer, this need can be particularly profound. While advances in cancer care have improved outcomes for many patients, survivors may continue to face significant challenges related to menopause, sexual function, intimacy, and overall quality of life. For some women, a history of hormone-sensitive cancer can further complicate treatment decisions, underscoring the importance of advancing research into nonhormonal approaches. Events like this are important for raising awareness of these challenges and advancing conversations around the unmet needs in women’s health. I am pleased to be speaking at this event and contributing to these important discussions,” said Sharon J. Parish, MD, IF, NCMP, Professor of Medicine in Clinical Psychiatry and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Director of Medical Services at New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Westchester Division.
“Surviving breast cancer should not mean having to accept a diminished quality of life or abandon an important part of what makes many women feel whole,” said Sabrina Martucci Johnson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Daré Bioscience. “Women's menopause and sexual health concerns have too often been overlooked or undertreated, including the particular concerns of breast cancer survivors. By supporting clinicians and researchers advancing the conversation around menopause after breast cancer, we are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring women's sexual health and quality of life are recognized as essential components of healthcare.”
Daré Bioscience's investigational proprietary Sildenafil Cream, 3.6% is just one example of the Company's research into nonhormonal approaches for women's sexual health. Sildenafil acts through a nonhormonal mechanism involving blood flow, which may be relevant to aspects of female sexual function.
For women experiencing sexual health challenges following breast cancer treatment, the development of additional nonhormonal options may be relevant. However, the appropriateness of any treatment must be evaluated based on an individual woman's medical history, symptoms, and clinical circumstances.
“Nonhormonal innovation is important because there is no single treatment approach that meets every woman's needs,” continued Ms. Johnson. “We are advancing science-based solutions across contraception, menopause, sexual health, and other areas of unmet need, including for women who have historically had limited options.”
The Managing Menopause After Breast Cancer program will bring together women's health clinicians to examine the complex clinical considerations involved in managing menopause following breast cancer, including hormonal and nonhormonal treatment approaches, sexual health, and quality of life.
The program will be led by two recognized leaders in women's health and oncology:
- Lisa Larkin, MD, FACP, MSCP, Founder and Executive Director of HERmedicine and the OncoMenopause Consortium®
- Maryam Lustberg, MD, MPH, Director of the Yale Breast Center and Division Chief of Breast Oncology at Yale University School of Medicine
In addition to its sponsorship of the HERmedicine and OncoMenopause Consortium program, Daré Bioscience will participate in The Menopause Society's 2026 Annual Meeting, being held October 20–24, 2026, including a planned scientific poster presentation on data from a Phase 1 clinical study of Sildenafil Cream, 3.6% in postmenopausal women.
